One Last Splash of Summer

One Last Splash of Summer

When you hear the word August, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? For most of us, it’s probably school supplies, new shoes, crowded stores, and the realization that summer somehow disappeared overnight. Back-to-school season is definitely here, and for many families, the slower days of summer are quickly turning back into homework, practices, schedules, and early mornings. But here at Dirt Road Ministry, August means something else, too.

It means Family & Friends Day! Family & Friends Day is one of the events we look forward to every year. It is normally held on the first Saturday of August, depending on how the calendar falls, and it has become one of the ways we intentionally show appreciation for the people God has placed around us. And trust us, we know how to have some fun! We're talking bounce houses, water slides, hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, music and worship, yard games, and even a good old-fashioned water balloon war for the kids. It's the kind of day where you might show up expecting to stay for an hour and somehow find yourself still there several hours later. 😂

But beyond all the food, games, music, and inevitable water balloon chaos, Family & Friends Day gives us a chance to simply spend time together. We get to open the doors, invite people in, share a meal, laugh with one another, and create a place where everyone can feel welcome. And we're not stopping there! We'll also be continuing our "Give 'Em Heaven"** **Tour this month. This time, we'll be heading to Dry Branch, Georgia, so be sure to stay tuned for updates, pictures, and everything happening along the way.

August may mean the end of summer for a lot of people, but around Dirt Road, we're looking at it as another opportunity to serve, connect, worship, and reach beyond the four walls of the church. So yes, get those school supplies ready. But before summer completely slips away, come enjoy a little more sunshine, a little more fellowship, and maybe a whole lot of water.

We'll see you down the Dirt Road!
